Hanging Chair by Yuri Kim

Do you hate empty wall? Hanging chair would be a great addition to fill the empty space of the wall, especially for indoor public place such as library or museum or bus stop. This furniture is made of canvas with wall mountable holder. It can use other flexible material to replace the canvas, such as plastic, fabric, or even paper that can stand a person’s weight. People can put their stuff on it or use it as a chair while waiting for a friend or a bus. The main idea of this design was to create a chair without its 4 legs, not in solid form, to provide creativity in terms of material and structure. Hanging Chair should be a unique and interesting installation.

Linear Harmony in a Chair

The influence behind this royal thrown of neoplasticism was work by artist Piet Mondrian. Mondriz is the result of design team Dideia’s understanding that the line has almost become a work of art in itself. They have taken great veneration to ensure that no line was superfluous or misplaced, and the color chosen was in reverence of it’s inspiration. Mondriz verifies that linear, vertical and horizontal arrangement is inherently harmonious. It’s pure symmetry and powerful coloring make it an eye-catching addition to any space.

Sit on Ten Legs Chair

I have a strange obsession with cuttlefish and it seems I’m not the only one fascinated by these creatures. The Sepii, named after the cuttlefish order sepiidae, is an ten-legged chair made from ash wood. Designed by K to N Studio in collab with Yoho, the chair is a gorgeous modern reference to its muse. Only three of the legs ever touch the ground at one time so feel free to “rock” it back and forth – perfect for my chair dancing routines. Yeah… I’ve choreographed chair dancing routines but I’ll save that for another post.

The Satvic Lounge

The Satvic Lounge Series is an expression of pure equilibrium between mind & body, universe & self. Individual materials for each model carry a deep representation of the relationship between the user & their environment, e.g., the raw wood base met with the polycarbonate seat represent the earth as being the only place a pure soul can be aware of it’s existence. I told you it was deep! The question to ask is not which one you like, but, which one you need.

A Chair With a Twist

This felt chair puts a new twist on sustainable ecodesign. The FF1 by designers James van Vossel and Tom de Vrieze at Fox and Freeze is comprised of only two components: one solid synthetic felt sheet and flax rope. The felt is coiled and recoiled to form the base, seat, and back while the flax rope holds the form and provides a nice finishing touch. Aside from drilling holes there is no loss of material and the structure is completely self supporting. Total potential for DIY. Felt follows function in this symmetric yet asymmetric design.

A Chair Design

If you’ve ever had someone sit in your lap, you know that 15 minutes is about the max your legs can handle. It’s really not fair. The Hug chair brings simple design and human gesture together for that extra time you want to sit with your significant other. When you’re away from your special someone the extra seat doubles as a convenient space, perfect for catching up on video chat.
